Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 2 cups boiling water
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently 175 degrees Celsius.
2
In a separate container, combine the dry ingredients of flour, baking powder, and salt. Set these aside for later use.
3
Using an electric mixer in a large bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar and softened butter until they have reached a light and fluffy consistency. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into this mixture, alternating with milk until no large clumps remain.
4
Pour the resulting mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Next, arrange blackberries over the batter and sprinkle with an additional 1 cup of sugar.
5
Pour boiling water over the top layer, covering it completely. Finally, bake in the preheated oven until the batter has set and the berries are tender, approximately 50 minutes.
