- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons minced red onion
- 1 (15.5 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons water

Combine the tomato, onion, cilantro, and honey in a bowl, mixing until well incorporated. Add a squeeze of lime juice, vinegar, salt and pepper to the mixture and set it aside for later use.

Heat a saucepan over medium heat, allowing the bacon grease to melt. Introduce garlic and onion into the saucepan, cooking until they become soft and transparent, approximately 3 minutes. Add black beans and water to the saucepan, seasoning with salt and pepper as desired, then let it simmer for 10 minutes or until hot.
