Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 (16 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 green bell pepper, cut into 2 inch pieces
- 1/2 onion, cut into wedges
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon Thai chili sauce or hot sauce
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
Instructions
1
Heat up your outdoor grill to its highest temperature setting. Apply a thin layer of cooking spray onto a sheet of aluminum foil, making sure to cover the entire surface lightly.
2
Use a fork to pound and crush black beans in a medium-sized bowl until they reach your desired consistency, which should be thick and almost paste-like.
3
Process the bell pepper, onion, and garlic into fine, uniform pieces using a food processor. Combine these chopped vegetables with the mashed black beans in the same bowl.
4
In another small bowl, whisk together an egg, a generous amount of chili powder, some cumin, and a dash of chili sauce until well combined. Add this mixture to the mashed black beans and stir until everything is fully incorporated.
5
Gradually add bread crumbs to the mixture, stirring constantly until it reaches a sticky consistency that holds together when formed into patties.
6
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. Place these patties onto the prepared aluminum foil sheet.
7
Place the patties on the preheated grill and cook for approximately 8 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
8
Serve the grilled black bean patties hot and indulge in the delicious results!
