Birria Egg Rolls
Ingredients
  • 1 (14 ounce) package egg roll wrappers
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies, drained
  • 2 cups shredded pepper Jack cheese
  • 4 cups oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions
1
Break ground beef into small pieces and place them in a large skillet over high heat. Allow the meat to cook until it is uniformly browned, then remove excess fat from the pan. Add taco seasoning and follow the package's cooking instructions to complete the process. Set the seasoned ground beef aside for later use.
2
Heat a substantial amount of oil, approximately 1 inch deep, in a large skillet or preheat a deep fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
3
Proceed with the egg roll assembly, one wrapper at a time. Place an individual wrapper on a flat surface and position a rounded tablespoon of seasoned ground beef in the center. Add a small amount of green chilies and a minimal quantity of shredded cheese on top of the beef. Roll up the wrapper according to the package's instructions and seal the edges by moistening them with water if required. Continue this process using the remaining wrappers and filling.
4
Fry the assembled egg rolls in hot oil until they are golden brown on all sides, approximately 5 minutes. Remove the egg rolls from the oil to drain excess moisture on paper towels. Serve the crispy egg rolls hot and immediately.
