Big D Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • sea salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons hickory flavored barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 5 large hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions
1
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, allowing the ground beef to cook until it's thoroughly browned and reaches a rich color, taking approximately 5-7 minutes to achieve this.
2
Next, introduce the sliced onion and diced bell pepper into the skillet, sprinkling a pinch of sea salt and black pepper over them to enhance their flavor. Continue cooking the vegetables until they become tender, which should take around 7 minutes.
3
Following this, add a mixture of ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and barbeque sauce to the skillet. Stir everything together, then gradually reduce the heat to a low setting and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken and develop a rich flavor.
4
Once the mixture has thickened, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese over it to add an extra layer of flavor. Finally, serve the dish on toasted hamburger buns and enjoy
