Beef Kebab Pita
Ingredients
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 pinch curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound beef flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 6 pita bread rounds
Instructions
1
Prepare the marinade by mashing the onions in a large ceramic bowl with the back of a glass until they release their juices and become translucent. Combine this with minced garlic, olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, dried oregano, black pepper, turmeric, curry powder, and salt. Add the beef to this mixture and stir until it's evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a period of 8 hours to overnight.
2
Create the sauce by blending together sour cream, olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, salt, black pepper, chopped fresh dill, and minced garlic in a medium bowl until it's smooth and well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
3
Heat the oven's broiler and position the rack about 6 inches away from the heat source.
4
Remove the meat from the marinade, gently scraping off any excess onions; discard the remaining marinade. Arrange the meat on a baking sheet without overlapping and sprinkle with salt.
5
Place the meat under the preheated broiler until it's browned and crispy, about 3 minutes per side, flipping the meat halfway through cooking.
6
Divide the cooked meat among pita breads and serve with a dollop of tzatziki sauce.
