Beef in Onion Sauce Egyptian Style
Ingredients
  • 1 pound cubed beef stew meat
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 4 onions, very thinly sliced
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups water, or as needed
Instructions
1
Combine beef with butter and canola oil in a large saucepan; heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly to ensure even browning of the beef, until it reaches a light brown color, approximately 5 minutes.
2
Next, add sliced onions to the saucepan along with chicken bouillon cube, a bay leaf, salt, and black pepper. Pour in water to cover the ingredients.
3
Finally, lower the heat to a low setting and place a lid on top of the saucepan. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for at least 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the onions have thickened into a rich sauce.
