Ingredients
- 4 pounds chuck roast
- 1 (4 ounce) can green chile peppers, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 300 degrees F (or equivalently, 150 degrees C).
2
Cover the roast with a generous amount of heavy-duty aluminum foil that is large enough to completely envelop the meat. In a small container, blend together the green chile peppers, chili powder, oregano, cumin, garlic, and salt to your desired level of flavor. Thoroughly mix the ingredients together before applying them to the meat.
3
Completely encase the meat in the foil, ensuring it is sealed tightly. Place the wrapped roast into a suitable roasting pan.
4
Cook the roast in the oven for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, or until it becomes tender enough to easily break apart with a fork.
5
Remove the roast from the oven and use two forks to shred it into bite-sized pieces.
