- 3 pounds young green jackfruit packed in water, drained
- 2 cups barbeque sauce, or more to taste

Introduce the onion and garlic into the pan, allowing them to soften slightly under the heat, approximately 3 minutes. Next, add the jackfruit and cook while stirring until it has developed a light brown hue and most of its moisture has evaporated, roughly 10 minutes.

Transfer the jackfruit mixture to a large container designed for slow cooking and cover it with barbecue sauce. Seal the container and cook on a low setting, occasionally stirring the contents, until the jackfruit has become tender enough to shred with ease using a fork, approximately 6 hours.
