Ingredients
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup jellied cranberry sauce
- 3 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons white wine
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 4 pounds pork spareribs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 cups water
Instructions
1
Combine the ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until well incorporated. Mix together hoisin sauce, cranberry sauce, soy sauce, white wine, honey, and a few drops of red food coloring. Add garlic salt and Chinese five-spice powder to the mixture, stirring until they are evenly distributed. Place the ribs in the bowl and coat them with the sauce mixture, making sure they are fully covered. Cover the bowl with a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

Next, preheat your oven to a moderate temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Fill the bottom of a large roasting pan with water, creating a layer at the base. Arrange the ribs on a rack in the roasting pan, leaving enough space between them for even cooking. Place the ribs in the oven and cook for 30 minutes, or until they are tender and lightly browned. Remove the ribs from the oven and spoon some of the remaining sauce mixture over them, making sure they are fully coated. Return the ribs to the oven and continue cooking for another 30 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
