Submerge the can of sweetened condensed milk into a large pot filled with boiling water, making sure it's completely covered by the liquid. Cook slowly over low heat for 2 to 3 hours, or until it reaches a deep amber color.

Remove the can from the boiling water using oven mitts and let it cool completely, ideally for 8 hours or overnight.

Combine digestive biscuits with 1/2 cup plus 2 1/2 tablespoons of melted butter in a bowl. Use your hands or a spoon to press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Chill the crust in the refrigerator until it becomes firm and set.

Beat heavy cream in a chilled glass or metal bowl using an electric mixer until it reaches stiff peaks.
