- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, or as needed

Combine dry ingredients - flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda - in a small bowl using a whisk. Set aside for future use.

Take the ripe banana and place it in a mixing bowl, then mash it into a smooth consistency using a potato masher. Add the egg and sugar to the bowl, whisking them together until the sugar is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth and free of lumps, approximately 2 minutes. Introduce milk, vanilla extract, 1/4 cup of melted butter, walnuts, and the dry ingredients mixture into the bowl. Whisk until just combined.

Allow the batter to sit for 10 minutes, allowing it to relax and become easier to work with.

Heat a large nonstick pan or skillet over medium-high heat, adding 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan. Once the pan is hot and sizzling, use a ladle to transfer about 1/3 cup of the batter into the pan. Reduce heat to medium and cook until the edges start to dry out slightly and small air bubbles begin to form on the surface, approximately 3 minutes. Flip the pancake over and cook until it's golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes more. Serve the pancakes immediately.
