Baked Spaghetti Pie
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking vessel by greasing a 10-inch round cake pan or springform pan with some cooking oil. This will ensure that your dish releases smoothly once it's cooked.
3
Now, fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and 2 teaspoons of salt into the pot, stirring until they're fully incorporated.
4
Once your spaghetti is cooked to perfection in the boiling water-oil mixture, remove it from the heat and drain off any excess moisture. Transfer the cooked spaghetti to a large serving bowl.
5
Meanwhile, combine eggs, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter in the bowl with your spaghetti. Mix everything together until it's well combined.
6
Using your hands or a spoon, shape the spaghetti mixture into the prepared pie plate to form a crust. Spread a layer of cottage cheese over the crust.
7
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef, onion, and green pepper to the skillet and cook until the beef is nicely browned and crumbly, stirring occasionally.
8
Mix in some chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and garlic powder until everything is well combined.
9
Spread the beef mixture over the cottage cheese layer.
10
Bake your dish uncovered in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Once it's done, sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top and continue baking until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned, adding 5 to 10 minutes more to your cooking time.
