Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (32 ounce) jar meatless spaghetti sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 cups small curd cottage cheese
- 5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Instructions
1
Gather all the necessary ingredients required for this dish.
2
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer).
3
Lightly coat the inside of a 9x13-inch baking dish with oil or cooking spray to prevent food from sticking.
4
Next, fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a rolling boil.
5
Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired level of doneness - still slightly firm in the middle but tender overall.
6
This should take around 12 minutes, so be sure to keep an eye on the time.
7
While your spaghetti is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat on your stovetop.
8
Cook and stir the beef and onion in the hot skillet until the meat is nicely browned and the onion is soft and translucent.
9
This should take about 5 to 7 minutes, depending on your cooking pace.
10
Remove any excess oil from the pan and stir in spaghetti sauce and seasoned salt.
11
This will add flavor to your dish, so be sure to taste as you go.
12
In a separate large bowl, whisk together eggs, Parmesan cheese, and butter until well combined.
13
Add your cooked spaghetti to the bowl and toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated.
14
Now it's time to build your lasagna.
15
Place half of the spaghetti mixture in the prepared baking dish.
16
Top this layer with half of the cottage cheese, 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 cup of your meat sauce.
17
Repeat the layers: add half of the remaining spaghetti mixture, half of the cottage cheese, 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, and finally the remaining 1/2 cup of your meat sauce.
18
Cover the top of your lasagna with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven for 40 minutes.
19
Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top.
20
Continue to bake your lasagna until the cheese is melted and lightly browned, taking an additional 20 to 25 minutes.
21
And that's it - your delicious lasagna is ready to be served and enjoyed!
