Baked Philly Cheesesteak Sliders with Sirloin
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound beef top sirloin steaks
  • 1 pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 10 mini sandwich rolls
  • 2 1/2 cups freshly shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped pickled peppers
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
2
Place the steaks on a large skillet and heat some olive oil over medium-high heat. Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with generous amounts of salt, black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne for added flavor. Cook the steaks in the hot oil for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, flipping them occasionally.
3
Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and set them aside. Then, add sliced onions to the same skillet and continue cooking until they're softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
4
Now, transfer the cooked onions to a plate with the steaks and set them aside.
5
To make the filling, slice the cooked steaks into thin strips, then cut them across into small pieces. Place these pieces in a bowl and add the sautéed onions, along with any juices that have accumulated during cooking.
6
Mix everything together until it's well combined. Add 1 and a half cups of provolone cheese, some pickled peppers, cream cheese, kosher salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Stir until everything is fully incorporated.
7
Taste the filling and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt as required.
8
Now, it's time to assemble the sandwiches. Hollow out the tops of the rolls by cutting them at a 45-degree angle and removing some of the bread inside to make room for the filling.
9
Spoon the meat mixture into the rolls, followed by a generous amount of provolone cheese on top.
10
Finally, place the filled rolls in the preheated oven and bake until the cheese is melted and the edges start to brown, approximately 15 minutes.
