Ingredients
- 1/2 pound penne pasta
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- 1 (26 ounce) jar pasta sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking dish by coating it with a thin layer of grease.
3
In a separate pot, bring a substantial amount of water to the boil and add a pinch of salt. Once boiling, carefully add your pasta and cook until it reaches the perfect al dente texture - usually between 8 to 10 minutes.
4
Then, transfer the cooked pasta to a separate pot or container and drain any excess water.
5
In a large skillet, heat it up over medium temperature. Add your beef and cook until it reaches a nice brown color.
6
Following that, pour in the pasta sauce and take the skillet off the heat.
7
Meanwhile, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, and a sprinkle of Parmesan in a bowl. Add a beaten egg to the mixture and stir until everything is well incorporated.
8
Now, it's time to assemble your dish. Place half of the cooked pasta in the prepared baking dish, followed by half of the pasta sauce and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat this process one more time.
9
Finally, top your dish with the remaining mozzarella cheese and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 34 to 40 minutes, or until your dish is hot and bubbly.
