Ingredients
- 1 (4 pound) fully-cooked spiral cut ham
- 1 (20 ounce) can sliced pineapple, drained with juice reserved
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 liter ginger ale
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Carefully extract as much ham meat from the bone as you can. Arrange 1/3 of the ham in a large, deep casserole dish. Add a few pineapple slices on top and sprinkle 1/4 cup of brown sugar over them. Repeat this layering process, finishing with a layer of pineapple rings on top - do not add any additional brown sugar.
3
Pour the juice that you have reserved from the pineapple slices over the ham and pineapple layers. Fill the dish halfway with ginger ale, making sure it reaches that level.
4
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar over the top layer of pineapple rings. Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent it from browning.
5
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue cooking for an additional 20 minutes.
