Ingredients
- 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, take a rectangular baking dish and generously apply butter to its surface. Then, place slices of bread evenly at the bottom of the dish.
2
In a large mixing vessel, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices in the baking dish, cover it with a lid or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an overnight period.
3
The following morning, remove the baking dish from the refrigerator and prepare it for oven use. In a separate bowl or container, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until well blended. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, or until it starts to bubble.
4
Carefully pour the sugar and butter mixture over the bread and egg mixture in the baking dish. Now, place the dish in the preheated oven and bake it uncovered for 40 minutes.
5
Finally, serve your dessert with a selection of fresh berries and a drizzle of syrup.
