Baked Buffalo Wings
Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound chicken wings, split and tips discarded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup red hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
1
First, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2
To begin cooking the chicken wings, place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill it with water, leaving about an inch of space at the bottom. Bring the water to a rolling boil and then carefully add the chicken wings, covering them with a lid. Steam the wings for around 10 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), as indicated by an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the wing.
3
Once cooked, remove the wings from the steamer and let them cool for a moment on a platter. Pat the wings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
4
Next, arrange the cooled chicken wings on a rimmed baking sheet and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
5
Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through. Continue baking until the wings are crispy on the outside and golden brown.
6
Meanwhile, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add hot sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper to the melted butter. Stir the mixture occasionally until all the seasonings have dissolved into the liquid and it reaches a hot consistency, about 5 minutes.
7
Once the sauce is ready, place the cooked chicken wings in a large bowl and pour the hot sauce mixture over them. Toss the wings gently to coat them evenly with the flavorful sauce.
