Baked Brie with Maple Apples and Spiced Praline Bacon
Ingredients
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • sea salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (8 ounce) round Brie cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius. To make the baking process more efficient, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil beforehand.
2
Arrange bacon strips in an orderly fashion on the prepared baking sheet, spreading them out evenly to prevent overcrowding. In a separate container, mix together pecans, brown sugar, chili powder, and sea salt to create a harmonious blend; sprinkle this mixture evenly over the bacon strips.
3
Bake the bacon and pecan mixture in your preheated oven until it reaches a golden brown color and becomes crispy, taking around 18 to 20 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the bacon strips to a wire rack to cool down.
4
In a separate pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add sliced apples and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup; stir occasionally every 60 to 90 seconds until the apples become tender and develop a rich brown color, approximately 8 minutes. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon; transfer the mixture to a serving bowl.
5
Cut a round piece of parchment paper slightly larger than the round shape of Brie cheese; position it on a baking sheet. Place the Brie cheese in the center of the parchment paper, then top it with a large mound of apples.
6
Bake the Brie and apple mixture in your preheated oven for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the bacon-praline mixture on top of the Brie cheese, then continue baking until the top is bubbly and golden brown, taking an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the Brie cheese and apple mixture to a serving platter using a large spatula. Sprinkle with sea salt and rosemary for added flavor.
