Baked Baby Back Ribs
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup ancho chile powder
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground dried chipotle pepper
  • 1 rack baby back pork ribs
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
Instructions
1
Gather all the necessary ingredients and preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
2
Combine the ancho chile powder, white sugar, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, cumin, dry mustard, cayenne, and chipotle pepper in a small bowl until they are well mixed.
3
Place the rib rack on its side, with the meat facing downwards, and cover it completely with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Use a knife to poke several holes in the back of the rack, allowing any excess moisture to escape.
4
Generously cover all sides of the rack with the dry rub mixture, ensuring an even coating. Set aside any leftover dry rub for future use.
5
Fold the foil over the rack to create a tight seal, making sure there are no gaps or openings. Place the sealed rack on a sheet pan.
6
Bake the rib rack in the preheated oven for approximately 2 hours, or until it reaches a tender and cooked-through state.
7
Remove the rack from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes before proceeding with the next step.
8
Increase your oven temperature to a high heat of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
9
Carefully open the foil covering the rack, allowing any accumulated juices and fat to drain off.
10
Brush a generous amount of barbeque sauce evenly over all sides of the rack, making sure to cover every area thoroughly.
11
Flip the rack over so that the meat is now facing upwards. Return it to the oven, leaving the foil open and baking for 10 minutes.
12
Remove the rack from the oven and brush a second layer of barbeque sauce only on the meat side. Repeat this process 4 more times, for a total of 50 minutes of baking time.
13
Once the rack is done, cut it into individual rib segments and serve with an abundance of barbeque sauce.
