Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 6 apples - peeled, cored, and chopped, or more to taste
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup butter, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, take a 9x13-inch baking dish and spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
2
In a large mixing container, combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a single bowl. Add sliced apples to the mixture and gently toss them around until they are evenly coated.
3
Add raisins, walnuts, and melted butter to the apple mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
4
Pour the apple mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish that has been prepared earlier.
5
In another bowl, whisk together milk and vanilla extract until well combined. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
6
Cover the top of the baking dish with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking.
7
Bake the apple mixture in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until it is easily pierced with a fork.
8
Remove the aluminum foil from the top of the baking dish and stir the apple mixture to redistribute it. Continue baking until the apples are very soft and the mixture is bubbly, adding an additional 30 minutes to the cooking time.
