Bacon Turkey Meatloaf
Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 7 slices turkey bacon, or more to taste
  • 1 pound extra lean ground turkey
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 1 slice French bread, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, or more to taste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius). Next,
2
heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add slices
3
of turkey bacon and cook until they are nicely browned and crispy, taking about 5 minutes per
4
side. Remove the cooked turkey bacon from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on paper
5
towels, allowing it to cool down enough to handle. Once cooled, crumble the turkey bacon into
6
small pieces.
7
Now, combine ground turkey, shredded Cheddar cheese, an egg, a finely chopped onion,
8
small pieces of crumbled French bread, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and
9
the cooked turkey bacon in a large bowl. Mix everything together until it is well combined.
10
Shape the mixture into a loaf shape, placing it in the center of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
11
In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar until the brown sugar is
12
dissolved. Spread this mixture evenly over the turkey loaf in the baking dish.
13
Finally, bake the turkey loaf in the preheated oven until it reaches an internal temperature of
14
at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit (or 74 degrees Celsius), as indicated by an instant-read meat
15
thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the loaf. This should take around 45 to 60
16
minutes, depending on your oven's performance.
