Ingredients
- 1 1/3 pounds potato, peeled and quartered
- 2/3 pound turnips, peeled and cut into chunks
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 8 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Fill a large pot with the potatoes and turnips, submerging them in water before placing it on high heat. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then continue to cook until they become soft and easily pierced with a fork, approximately 20 minutes.
2
Once the potatoes and turnips have finished cooking, carefully pour off the water from the pot, returning the vegetables to their container. Use a masher or potato ricer to break down the potatoes and turnips into a smooth, creamy consistency.
3
Next, add the softened butter to the saucepan and gradually pour in the milk, stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Introduce the crumbled bacon into the saucepan, stirring until it's fully incorporated and evenly distributed. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg, salt, and pepper over the top to enhance the flavors.
