Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package egg noodles
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 pound bacon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 small head cabbage, chopped
- 1 dash garlic salt
Instructions
1
Fill a large pot with water that has been lightly seasoned with salt, then place it over high heat to bring the liquid to a vigorous boil. Introduce the egg noodles into the pot and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until they reach your desired level of doneness, which should take around 5 minutes. Remove the noodles from the pot and set them aside to be recombined with other ingredients later.
2
In a separate, larger skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until it is evenly browned on all sides, stirring occasionally. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
3
Add the onion to the skillet with the remaining bacon grease and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to soften. Introduce the cabbage into the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until it has wilted and reached your desired level of tenderness. Chop the cooked bacon into smaller pieces and add it to the skillet, continuing to cook until the cabbage is tender. Finally, stir in the cooked egg noodles and continue cooking just long enough for them to heat through.
