  • 2 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 dash cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules, or salt

Combine tomatillos, jalapenos, and garlic in a large cooking vessel. Add just the right amount of water to submerge the tomatillos; they will naturally rise to the surface, so gently press them down as you determine the water level. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat, then gradually decrease the heat to a low simmer and let cook until the color of the tomatillos becomes noticeably lighter, taking around 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for approximately 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Strain the tomatillos, reserving the liquid that was used. Transfer them into the bowl of a blender; add the cloves, cumin, pepper, and chicken bouillon. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency, using the reserved water as necessary to adjust the desired texture.
