- 2 (14 ounce) cans passata (crushed tomatoes)
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, torn in half

Heat a small amount of oil in a saucepan over a low flame. Introduce the onion and garlic into the pan, stirring gently until they become soft and lose their raw appearance, approximately 5 minutes.

Add passata, fresh basil leaves, and a pinch of salt. Cover the pan and gently simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the tomato sauce reaches a thickened consistency, roughly 20 minutes.

Prior to serving, carefully remove the garlic halves from the saucepan.
