Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon
- 24 spears fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives
- 12 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit, equivalent to 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking sheet by coating it with a thin layer of grease.
3
In a large, deep skillet, cook the bacon slices over high heat, stirring occasionally, until they achieve an even brown color, approximately 10 minutes. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess moisture.
4
Once the bacon has cooled, use your fingers or a utensil to crumble it into small pieces and set it aside in a bowl.
5
To prepare the asparagus, place the spears into a large skillet and add about 1 inch of water to the bottom. Set the skillet over medium heat, cover it with a lid, and let the asparagus simmer until it turns bright green and becomes slightly tender, roughly 5 minutes. Remove the cooked asparagus from the skillet and set it aside.
6
In a separate bowl, combine the cream cheese and chives. Add this mixture to the bowl with the crumbled bacon and stir until everything is evenly combined.
7
Take each bread slice and use a rolling pin on a flat surface to flatten it into a thin, uniform shape.
8
Spread the cream cheese and bacon mixture evenly over each bread slice.
9
Place 2 asparagus spears in the center of a bread slice and roll the slice around the asparagus to form a neat, compact cylinder. Place this cylinder seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
10
Finally, brush each roll with melted butter and sprinkle a small amount of Parmesan cheese over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown and hot.
