Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- pepper to taste
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for deep-fat frying
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - pounded to 1/4 inch thickness
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
1
Combine the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and soy sauce in a bowl, adding a small amount of pepper to suit your taste.
2
Heat the oil in the deep fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
3
Prepare two separate dishes by placing flour and panko bread crumbs on them, seasoning with salt and pepper. Crack an egg into a medium-sized bowl and whisk it lightly. Dip the flattened chicken pieces first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat them with bread crumbs.
4
Fry the coated chicken breasts in hot oil until they turn golden brown and are cooked through, taking around 8 minutes. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Cut the chicken into thin strips and garnish with a drizzle of sauce and some sliced green onions. Serve the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
