Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
- 2 1/4 cups uncooked white rice
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 cups evaporated milk
- 1 1/4 cups white sugar
- 2 pinches ground cinnamon
Instructions
1
Combine water and a cinnamon stick in a large cooking vessel over high heat. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then continue to cook until the cinnamon releases its vibrant color and aromatic flavor, approximately 5 minutes. Next, add uncooked white rice to the saucepan, then gradually reduce the heat to a low simmer. Cover the vessel with a lid and continue cooking until the rice is tender and all the water has been absorbed, around 20 minutes.
2
After the rice has finished cooking, gradually pour in whole milk, followed by evaporated milk. Stir the mixture until it is well combined. Then, add granulated sugar to the saucepan and cook uncovered, allowing the sugar to dissolve and the mixture to thicken, roughly 10 minutes.
3
Finally, serve the rice dish warm or chilled. To add a finishing touch, sprinkle each serving with ground cinnamon.
