Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups applesauce
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
- 2 cups raisins
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take some cooking spray and lightly coat a 9x13 inch baking dish. Then, sprinkle some non-stick powder into the same dish to ensure easy cake release.
3
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients such as flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Set these aside for now.
4
In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugar until they become light and fluffy.
5
Now, crack in one egg at a time and mix well until all the eggs are incorporated.
6
Add the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl in three parts, alternating with applesauce until you get a smooth batter.
7
Fold in some chopped walnuts and raisins to add texture and flavor.
8
Pour the cake batter into your prepared baking dish.
9
Bake in a preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until you insert a toothpick into the center of the cake and it comes out clean.
10
Finally, let the cake cool down completely before serving.
