Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 apple - peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- ground black pepper to taste
- 3/4 cup applesauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to the temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Melt the butter in a large cooking vessel over medium heat; cook and stir the sliced apple and chopped onion together until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer the cooked mixture to a separate container.
3
Put the pork chops in the same cooking vessel over medium heat; cook until they are browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Place the cooked pork chops in a 9x9-inch baking tray; sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
4
Combine applesauce, brown sugar, mustard, and cinnamon in the cooked apple and onion mixture. Pour it over the pork chops.
5
Bake, covered, in the preheated oven until the pork chops are no longer pink in the center, ranging from 30 to 45 minutes. Use a thermometer to check if the internal temperature reaches at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit (or 63 degrees Celsius).
