Apple Pork Chops with Savory Stuffing
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 6 (1-inch thick) boneless pork loin chops
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 (6 ounce) package pork stuffing mix
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling with cinnamon
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Next, take a non-stick cooking spray and coat the inside of a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent food from sticking.
3
In a large pan, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil over medium-high heat; cook the pork chops in the hot oil, turning them every 2 minutes until they are nicely browned on both sides.
4
Take the pork chops out of the pan and place them on a plate, setting them aside for now.
5
In another saucepan, bring water and margarine to a rolling boil; add the stuffing mix and cover the pan with a lid.
6
Once the water has reached its boiling point, remove the saucepan from the heat source and let it sit for about 5 minutes, allowing the water to be absorbed by the stuffing mix.
7
After the water has been absorbed, remove the lid and use a fork to gently fluff up the stuffing mix.
8
Pour the apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish, followed by a layer of pork chops on top.
9
Spoon the stuffing mix over the pork chops, covering them completely.
10
Cover the entire baking dish with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking.
11
Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the food is cooked through.
12
Remove the foil and continue cooking until the pork chops are no longer pink in the center, about 10 more minutes.
13
Use a food thermometer to check if the pork chops have reached an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
