Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 4 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- ground black pepper to taste
- 2 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently, 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Heat a generous amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the onion until it reaches your desired level of tenderness, approximately one minute.
3
Remove the cooked onion from the skillet and set it aside for further use. Sear both sides of the pork chops in the same skillet until they are nicely browned.
4
Place the browned pork chops in an 8x12-inch baking dish and sprinkle them with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Cover the pork chops with sliced apples and the previously cooked onion.
5
Mix together water, brown sugar, mustard, and ground cloves in a small bowl. Pour the resulting liquid over the pork chops.
6
Cover the baking dish with a lid and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the pork chops reach your desired level of doneness.
