- 1 (9 inch) deep dish pie crust
- 5 cups apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons butter

Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.

Prepare the baking vessel by arranging apple slices within it, leaving some space around the edges for even cooking.

Combine 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and a pinch of cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apple slices.

To create the crumbly topping, place 1/3 cup of sugar and a tablespoon of flour in a separate bowl. Use two knives or a pastry blender to cut in cold butter until the mixture forms a rough, uneven texture; then gently spoon this mixture over the apples.

Place the prepared apple and topping mixture in the preheated oven, where it will cook for approximately 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the top is lightly golden brown.
