Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced peeled Granny Smith apples
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Arrange sliced apples in a rectangular casserole dish measuring 8 inches by 10 inches, filling it to the brim.
3
Mix water and lemon juice in a separate container until well combined, then pour over the sliced apples.
4
In a large mixing bowl, blend together sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until they form a uniform mixture. Use an electric mixer to thoroughly combine the ingredients.
5
Add small pieces of butter to the bowl and mix until the mixture reaches a crumbly consistency. Distribute this mixture evenly over the apples.
6
Bake the casserole in your preheated oven until it's hot, bubbly, and golden brown, taking approximately 45 minutes to achieve this.
7
Once the casserole is cooked, let it cool for a short period of time to thicken before serving the warm dessert in bowls.
