Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 (15.25 ounce) cans apple pie filling with cinnamon
- 1 cup cinnamon-flavored applesauce
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough, divided
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1
First, preheat your oven to a high temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius. Next, lightly coat the inside of a 9x13-inch baking dish with a thin layer of oil.
2
In another small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping mixture; set it aside for now.
3
To assemble the cobbler, combine the apple filling, applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a pan over medium heat. Cook the mixture until it thickens and reaches your desired consistency, approximately 5 minutes.
4
Now, press half of the crescent dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust. Pour the apple mixture over the crust and spread the remaining crescent dough evenly over the top. Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and sugar on top.
5
Finally, bake the cobbler in your preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and crispy, around 25 minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
