- 1 1/2 cups white sugar

Put the beans in a saucepan, ensuring they are fully submerged under 2 cups of water; initiate boiling and cook for a duration of 5 minutes.

Discard the excess liquid from the beans and relocate them to a clean saucepan.

Submerge the beans in 2 to 3 cups of water, then bring to a boil. Gradually decrease the heat to a low setting, cover the saucepan, and allow it to simmer, replenishing water as required, until the beans become tender and can be easily crushed between your fingertips, spanning a period of 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Discard the excess liquid from the beans and reposition them in the saucepan. Add sugar to the mixture and set it over medium-high heat.

Cook, stirring continuously, until the sugar dissolves and the beans form a loose, shiny paste, approximately 10 minutes.
