Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon anise extract
- black paste food coloring
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Prepare a 9x9-inch baking dish by lining it with buttered aluminum foil.
3
In a large saucepan, heat over medium temperature until the butter is melted. Combine sugar, milk, corn syrup, and salt in the saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Gradually increase the heat without stirring until it reaches 242 to 248 degrees F (116 to 120 degrees C), or when a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a firm but pliable ball.
4
Remove the saucepan from heat and add anise and food coloring to the mixture.
5
Pour the prepared syrup into the buttered aluminum foil-lined baking dish and let it cool completely, allowing several hours for complete hardening.
6
Once cooled, carefully remove the dish from the pan and peel away the aluminum foil. Cut the hardened candy into desired shapes using a buttered knife.
7
Wrap each piece of candy in waxed paper or candy wrappers before serving.
