Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 6 white mushrooms, chopped
- 4 bell peppers, tops cut off and seeded
- 1 (26 ounce) can spaghetti sauce
Instructions
1
Firstly, set your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, cover a 9x13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil to make it easier to clean up afterwards.
2
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, a beaten egg, chopped onion, and sliced mushrooms. Mix all the ingredients together until they're well combined.
3
Then, divide the meat mixture evenly among 4-6 seeded bell peppers. Place a pepper top back onto each stuffed pepper to keep everything inside.
4
Arrange the stuffed peppers in the prepared baking dish, making sure they're not overlapping each other.
5
Place the stuffed peppers in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the meat is cooked through.
6
Remove the peppers from the oven and discard the pepper tops that you placed back on earlier.
7
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese over the top of each pepper. Return them to the oven for an additional 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
8
While the peppers are baking, warm up some spaghetti sauce in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir the sauce regularly until it starts to steam, then remove it from the heat.
9
Finally, pour the warm spaghetti sauce over the top of each stuffed pepper.
