Air Fryer Crispy Tonkatsu with Homemade Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sherry
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound boneless pork breakfast chops (4 chops)
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
1
Combine the ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, blend ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic until the sugar is fully incorporated. Set this mixture aside for later use.
2
Heat up an air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius), a temperature that is ideal for cooking.
3
Prepare the pork chops: Place the pork chops on a clean, flat surface and sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper to add flavor.
4
Create a breading station: In one dish, beat the eggs until they are well-mixed. In another dish, place the bread crumbs side by side.
5
Coat the pork chops: Dip a single pork chop into the beaten eggs, making sure to coat it evenly. Then, transfer the egg-coated pork chop to a dish containing bread crumbs and press the crumbs onto it firmly. Repeat this process with the remaining pork chops.
6
Place the coated pork chops: Put the breaded pork chops into the air fryer basket and spray them with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
7
Cook the pork chops: Air-fry the pork chops for 10 minutes. Flip them over using a spatula and spray with non-stick cooking spray again. Continue air-frying for an additional 10 minutes.
8
Check the internal temperature: Insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of a pork chop to ensure it reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius).
9
Transfer and serve: Remove the cooked pork chops from the air fryer and place them on a cutting board. Slice them into thin pieces and serve with the prepared sauce.
