Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon paprika
- 1/2 tablespoon dried Mexican oregano
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 limes, divided
- 1 pound skinless, boneless turkey breast, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
- 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large red bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1 medium yellow bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1 large red onion, halved and sliced into strips
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped, or more to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
1
Combine the spices of chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Squeeze the juice of 1 lime over the turkey breast to add moisture and flavor. Sprinkle the spice blend evenly over the meat, ensuring it's well-coated. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to help the seasonings adhere.
2
Place sliced bell peppers and onions in a separate bowl, making sure they're fully submerged under the remaining oil. Toss to coat and mix well.
3
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to preheat an air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Once the air fryer is preheated, cook the bell peppers and onions in it for 8 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even distribution of the vegetables.
4
Next, add sliced jalapenos to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 minutes. This will infuse the dish with a spicy kick.
5
Carefully remove the basket and arrange the turkey strips in a single layer on top of the vegetables. Close the basket and cook for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the turkey is cooked through and the peppers are tender.
6
To finish cooking the dish, shake the basket to redistribute the ingredients. Continue cooking until the turkey is crispy on the outside and cooked through, about 5 minutes more.
7
Transfer the fajitas to a serving bowl or platter and garnish with fresh cilantro. Finish the dish by squeezing the juice of the remaining lime over the top, adding a burst of citrus flavor.
