Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 portobello mushroom caps, gills removed
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 6 tablespoons pizza sauce
- 5 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
- 8 pepperoni slices
Instructions
1
Preheat the air fryer to its recommended temperature, as specified in the user manual.
2
Apply a small amount of olive oil to each mushroom, making sure they are evenly coated. Sprinkle a pinch of Italian seasoning into the cavity of each mushroom, taking care not to overfill it. Arrange the mushrooms in the air fryer basket with their caps facing upwards and cook for 3 minutes.
3
Flip the mushrooms over, so that their caps are now facing downwards. Distribute a portion of pizza sauce among the mushrooms and top each one with a generous helping of shredded mozzarella cheese and a few slices of olives. Continue to cook the mushrooms in the air fryer for another 3 minutes.
4
Place a few slices of pepperoni on top of each mushroom, followed by a small amount of mozzarella cheese. It is crucial to balance the pepperoni with an adequate layer of cheese, as the air fryer's fan may otherwise dislodge it. Cook until the cheese is melted and the pepperoni is nicely browned, taking approximately 2 minutes.
